The activity was kicked off by furniture maker Max Lamb, who was commissioned to create a pair of benches in the space for embellishment by Chrissie Abbott and Melvin Galapon. Each week thereafter a different local designer was tasked with visiting and making something inspired by sport. Damien Poulain used floor vinyl to create a series of nostalgic playground inspired markings, while Alex Better used reflective surfaces to produce an interactive mobile projection.
Alongside this, a series of screen-printing workshops were hosted at which the public could observe one of fours guests (Dan Mumford, Paul Willoughby, THIS IS Studio and Kate Moross) produce two hundred of a specially designed print live in the space. The events also included a Q&A, along with a broader presentation of work - and all those to attend left with a signed print. The culmination of our involvement saw Gary Milne, Pinky, Hannah Waldron and Elin Svensson take part in a unique visual relay; each producing something on a special canvas in the space over the course of a day - in some way inspired by the work of the others.
The project was curated in collaboration with HudsonBec & thanks to Guy Archard for event photography.
