This the YCN Technobunny receiving RSS Feeds and bits of technobabble and then regaling us with it's ability to feed them out aloud of it's own accord. Still waiting for any pearls of wisdom to issue forth from Technobunny... it's a bit of a crap name for it, huh. It you can think of a better one please let us know.

I've been a bit slack with the blog this year so humblest apologies. There are a few changes to this year's edition. For a start it's going to be BIGGER, like physically bigger... actually the page size is the same (if it ain't broke) but there's more of 'em. We've just started a capsule project to develop a YCN Alphabet too which will run alongside and be incorporated into the end product. There's loads of other changes I'll tell you about too. The images I'm currently posting are snippets of some of this year's awards work.

Applications for the Art Direction placement have now closed. Thanks to everyone who emailed in. We'll (well, I'll) be getting back to you all in the next day or so.

Thanks to those members who have responded to our shout out for people interested in helping art direct a project associated with the next book. We're holding onto your CVs and samples and will be going through them real soon. If you haven't sent anything in, don't fret there's still loads of time (I think loads... maybe just heaps.... don't quote me on that...)

Possible new typeface for BOOK 0708. Got a typeface suggestion? Leave a comment and let me know.

Trying to picture how the book will flow from page to page is tricky so I'm starting with a series of little blank boxes that I can scribble 'quick and dirty' (face expression at the mo) layouts into.

The (almost) final proof of me first POD (Print on Demand) project arrived today. Soon to be available via Press Publish (click on the image for a link). It contains posts from the first three months of the Boicozine Blog.

A new publication to accompany the recent Geoff McFetridge exhibition, 'Bend the Void', arrived on my desk today. The booklet is produced by Nieves [nievesbooks.com]. It's ace.

BOOKBLOG stops for rain... loads of the stuff...

It's nice to dig out a few old design annuals to see how things were presented in the past and imagine various ways of updating them to the present. Studio Vista was a publisher popular in the 60s and 70s who produced some of my favourite books including the Modern Publicity annual compendiums.

It's kind of good timing, starting the YCN Book 0708 and moving house, cause it means I've had to transport most of my reference library to the YCN office. So I'm now surrounded by books and magazines with all sorts of stuff in them. Best way to be really.
I've been looking at photographic assemblages and how we are going to use photography in the next issue. The book in this image is by Laurent Fétis and it's called ABC+.
