Alongside working on the running order and photos for the front section we're also looking at some interesting spreads for the back section of the book. The section acts both as a bit of a break for the eye and a will make a very cosy home for some leftover post its and the reams of notes I've made over the last two months... watch this space.

Now the alphabet's nearly all wrapped up, attentions in the newly re-jigged YCN office have turned to completing the front section of this year's book. Photos of objects chosen for inclusion will be taken over the next few days, but with a little bit of a colourful twist....

All 26 letters have been photographed and are sitting very smugly next to each other in their complete line up. Huge thanks to everyone involved and you'll be seeing these guys in a couple of formats over the next few months...

Yesterday saw our first day of shooting on location in Hackey. Some great photography by Annie Collinge twinned with a beautiful sunny day made for a very exciting first set of pics - a little sneak peek above...

So it's Friday afternoon and we're getting ready for our first location shoot with the letters next week... Prepare yourself for party poppers, podiums, fairy lights, utensils, and some rooftop sheneanegans. Roll on tuesday...

Yesterday saw the late night delivery of Jennie's perspex 'V' - a simple yet beuatifully constructed object adding a touch of class to the end of our alphabet. While you're here have a click on the image above to see Jennie's vast portfolio - which is without doubt one of the most exciting and diverse I've seen in a long time. Lovely stuff.

Our 'E' comes from the very talented youngster Owen Gildersleeve, who is one quarter of Brighton based collective evening tweed. The shape allows the letter to be coloured by it's environment - beautiful simplicity. Look out for these guys making waves in the not too distant future.
Now the YCN @ RCA show is up I can turn my attentions back to the alphabetty spaghetti! We've got all of the letters in and the face is beginning to take shape - sorry for no picture today but I'll be bombarding the blog with lots to look at tomorrow - promise - rumour has it they'll even be a giant pinata...

Not all of the letters being submitted are 3D models, some more traditional 2D work is also coming in - above is a smal teaser of James Joyce's 'U', simple but undoubtedly effective.

You may be fooled into thinking that you're looking through a wndow of a county abode, but in fact the picture above is a close up of Sally's folded paper 'H'. Posted flat all the way from France and then re-assembled at YCN HQ it's now sitting happily as part of a little alphabet menagerie that's forming on one of our shelves...

"A Krokofant is most commonly associated with a character being half elephant and half crocodile. It is also a Swedish produced marshmallow bar, dipped in chocolate and covered with happy coloured sugar strands" explain Jenny and Elin from studio Savantkrokofant. So they went and made a large scale wooden version '€“ which will take up the gap between 'C' and 'E' in our alphabet.

Lovely Looking Lively Layered Luminous L. Great stuff as always from Mark.

Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates, but I am now back in the office and the work is streaming in. A nice welcome back present was YCN favourite Stuart White's hand-drawn 'S' poster which arrived this morning. Lovingly hand-rendered in coloured pencils it's now straightening itself out next to some squash rackets...

To show the diversity of what's being made for the project I thought I'd post Thorbjorn Ankerstjerne's marvelous mould for his 'T'. What it is yet cannot be reveaed but all sources point to a complete one-off outcome. Watch this space.
