Trying to picture how the book will flow from page to page is tricky so I'm starting with a series of little blank boxes that I can scribble 'quick and dirty' (face expression at the mo) layouts into.

The (almost) final proof of me first POD (Print on Demand) project arrived today. Soon to be available via Press Publish (click on the image for a link). It contains posts from the first three months of the Boicozine Blog.

A new publication to accompany the recent Geoff McFetridge exhibition, 'Bend the Void', arrived on my desk today. The booklet is produced by Nieves [nievesbooks.com]. It's ace.

BOOKBLOG stops for rain... loads of the stuff...

It's nice to dig out a few old design annuals to see how things were presented in the past and imagine various ways of updating them to the present. Studio Vista was a publisher popular in the 60s and 70s who produced some of my favourite books including the Modern Publicity annual compendiums.

It's kind of good timing, starting the YCN Book 0708 and moving house, cause it means I've had to transport most of my reference library to the YCN office. So I'm now surrounded by books and magazines with all sorts of stuff in them. Best way to be really.
I've been looking at photographic assemblages and how we are going to use photography in the next issue. The book in this image is by Laurent Fétis and it's called ABC+.

In the words of the giant from Twin Peaks, "It is happening again..."

I've finally got round to using the Print Gocco I bought in March. I don't know why I put it off, it's totally easy and un-messy and you can get some great colours. These cards are printed in flourescent pink and gold. Mmmm.

I just art directed me workspace. I recommend this as a fun, brainless thing to do on a saturday morning if you're feeling a little under the weather... it's kind of like selective cleaning... actually, doesn't sound very fun at all... I need to get out more... :)
