The 2007/08 edition of our annual publication is still available to buy online. The Book presents commercial, personal and self-initiated work from some of the most outstanding emerging practitioners in design & communication, and associated YCN projects, created in the past 12 months. Book 0708 incorporates the YCN Alphabet project; a bespoke physical typeface created specifically for the publication.

Included also is all work Commended as part of the year's YCN Awards and the very Live Creative Briefs for the 2008 program. The publication ends with a notes section created by Alex Bec.

Book 0708 runs over 264 full colour pages, is printed on two different paper stocks, is perfect bound, measures 240 x 240 mm, weighs 1034 grams and comes with a PMS 1795 spot-coloured spine.

Book 0708 | Images

A selection of images from different sections of the Book can be seen below. High resolution versions, and original artwork files, are available for press and promotional purposes upon request.

Book 0708 is perfect bound within a hardback cover. This year the book's spine has been printed with a spot colour (PMS 1795).

Letters from the recent YCN Alphabet project were utilised to create different section headers throughout. The assembelages were Art Directed by Alex Bec and photographed by Annie Collinge.

The image above is a crop from Jamie Wiecks's spread within the showcase section. As well as being one of many creatives profiled in the Book, Jamie also contributed the letter F to the YCN Alphabet.

Shown above is work from Chrissie Abbott produced for Virgin Trains through YCN earlier this year. Stuart White's screen-printed album artwork for The Royal We also makes an appearance within the showcase section.

A number of recent projects from Eat Sleep Work/Play are presented within the showcase section of the book. Above is work for Kokon to Zai. Shown also is a crop of a spread presenting Ryan Todd's Office Stationary project.

Royal College of Art graduates Johnny Kelly and Mel Simone Elliot are both profiled in the Showcase section.

The work opening the showcase section comes courtesy of designer and illustrator Melvin Galapon. An intricate selection of work from Claire Scully is also included.

The Awards Section of Book 0708 presents all work to have been Commended as part of last year's YCN Awards. The awards are based around a collection of Live Creative Briefs, written each year by partnering organisations.

The Certificate for all those Commended as part of the awards last year took the form of an origami crown. Each was embellished by a different designer or illustrator. Many are presented in the Book.

Images of activity from our Summer Exhibition at the Royal College of Art punctuate the Awards Section. Above is a spread of images showing visitors enjoying a gentle and nostalgic ride on Gerry the Giraffe.

All of the Live Creative Briefs that form the basis of this year's YCN Awards are published in Book 0708. This year's challenges range from devising new title sequence concepts for BBC 2's The Culture Show, to challenging attitudes towards disability for Leonard Cheshire Disability.
